3,310 motorcyclists ride to collect toys
More motorcyclists than ever — 3,310 — took part in the annual Wichita Toy Run on Sunday.
That likely means more toys than ever will be passed out to the Salvation Army and the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots for distribution this holiday season. The 29th annual Toy Run also benefited the Kansas Food Bank, which will receive a monetary donation.
“Just amazing,” Toy Run committee member Bob Winegarner said after reporting the total number of bikers. “Unbelievable.”
The motorcyclists — many with toys such as stuffed animals, board games and Barbie dolls strapped to their bikes — left Lawrence-Dumont Stadium at about 1 p.m. for the Kansas Coliseum.

The line of motorcycles was so long, it took more than an hour to get everyone out of the stadium parking lot.
